What Is the TFI™ Test?

The TFI test is a French-language proficiency test for people whose native language is not
French. The TFI test results show how well you communicate in French in business and
academic environments.

Who Takes It and Why?

The TFI test is for language learners of all levels, regardless of occupation or background.
You do not need to have special knowledge beyond that of a person who uses French in
everyday work activities.

§  Training organizations can use the TFI test to group students homogeneously and validate
their proficiency with an unbiased external test.

§  The TFI test enables students to demonstrate their French-language proficiency for
academic and business institutions.

§  Individuals choose to take the TFI test to determine their level of proficiency and have it
validated by an external measure.

Where Do People Take It?

The TFI test is taken:

§  through ETS on-site testing services at:

o business locations

o language schools

§  at open public sessions

o Registration for public test sessions in the United States can be completed by email.

o In many countries at local ETS Preferred Network offices. (Contact ETS if there's no
representative in your country.)

Scores

For any TFI™ test administration, the local ETS Preferred Network office provides scoring services.
After the TFI test is scored, test results are reported to the candidate's employer or school in the form of a score roster.

Score Rosters

The Score Roster:

§  provides useful information for comparing candidates' relative skills

§  is intended for internal use only and cannot be used by individual candidates as an "official"
score.Each Score Roster includes:

§  individual scores (Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension and Total scores)

§  scores from the most recent testing session (including average score and range of scores)

§  scores obtained in all testing sessions within the same institution

§  scores within the industry with which the client is affiliated

§  scores within the country with which the client is affiliated

A TOEIC® representative can produce additional specialized reports, such as the results for
all of an organization's candidates who took the TFI test during a given time period or who work
in certain job categories, at the client's request.

Individual Score Reports

An Individual Score Report is :

§  supplied to each test taker when the TFI test is administered on site

§  a simple listing of a candidate's listening, reading and total scores
